Keto Diet Meaning

Keto diet means low carbohydrate, high fat and adequate protein diet mainly to cure epilepsy, cancer and above all losing weight. This diet forces the body to burn fat.
Keto diet has gained popularity recently. Researchers found that low carb and high fat food is very effective for losing weight, epilepsy and even diabetes.
Researches is being made to see its benefits for certain cancers, alzheimer’s and many other crucial diseases too. This may be challenging but a keto diet limits the carbohydrate intake to 25-50 grams per day. The reduction in carbs puts the body into a metabolic state called ketosis. Your body becomes very efficient at burning fat for energy. It converts fat into ketones in liver which can later supply energy for the brain.
When keto diet was first opted, nobody could believe the difference they felt just by changing the food intake. You can do self-experimentation to see the difference. It’s unbelievable what you can learn by self-experimenting just by cutting certain food from your list for a week and feel the change in your skin, mood and digestion. Try something new and find out yourself what works best for you and your body.
People opting keto diet lost 3 times more weight than those people who were on low fat diet. Earlier keto diet was introduced as a tool for treating neurological diseases. Later, it was seen beneficial in several other problems like Heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, Cancer, Brain injuries and acne too.

Mayonnaise:

Mayonnaise is definitely a best keto friendly food but it doesn’t confirm that it is good or not for your health. After knowing the ill effects of refined vegetable oils (being increased inflammation) on the body, most of us have completely removed soybean based mayonnaise from our diet.
Best alternative of sunflower oil and soybean oil can be coconut oil and avocado oil for mayonnaise etc.

Sugar free candies :

Sugar free mentioned on candies are not actually a sugar free. In the list of ingredients it is particularly mentioned that candy is sweetened with maltitol. It increases blood sugar level as normal white sugar do.
Studies revealed that use of stevia is good for keto diet. But again that depends on body to body.

Raw Dairy Products:

Most of the dairy products available in the market are pasteurized. Pasteurization is a process where milk is heated in high temperature to kill all natural bacteria.
In keto diet, we will prefer unpasteurized raw dairy products that contains natural bacteria along with awesome flavour and textures. Occasionally, we can opt little pasteurized cream in coffee etc. but can never go for pre-shredded cheese.
Try out raw milk cheese, no doubt it is extremely delicious.

Say NO to coffee:

In today’s stressful life, an average person consumes 2-3 cups of coffee in a day. Nothing new to mention that caffeine is a sort of drug that increases anxiety, heart rate and withdrawal rates. Saying a bog ‘NO’ to coffee is really tough but extremely rewarding.
Two days without coffee, is tough to imagine. But, having coffee on third day was amazing. Avoiding coffee for two days was not much noticeable.
Coffee, we think as a tool we take to have better workouts and be more productive at work. It keep us active and most importantly awake. Ignore coffee for 2-3 days completely in a week and feel yourself the difference it brings on you.

Strawberries:

Most of the people are going for berries for their antioxidants. But, studies found that sugar load is too high for a small amount of nutrients which we can get from handful of berries. Berries contain antioxidants doesn’t mean that our body can convert all of them into usable nutrients.
This was my perception. No doubt, berries are keto friendly and can be good alternatives for toffees or candies.

Keto Food Items we Ignore

Salad dressings:

Continuous reports are coming and proving the bad effects of refined vegetable oils on human body. We mostly avoid anything having canola oil, soybean oil or sunflower oil. We also avoid these refined oils in salad dressings.
Opt for the products made of avocado oils or coconut oils. Even you can make your own salad dressings using vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.

Chicken:

We love to enjoy smoked chicken whenever get a chance. But some of the things we should know before opting it again. Chicken is lean as compared to red meat. It get tough to hit our fat macros when we choose chicken as a full meal. Chicken is high in Omega-6 which means it can lead to increased inflammation. On other hand, fatty fish contains Omega-3 fatty acids which is really beneficial. Red meat and fish are high in nutrition.
Still, if you want to choose chicken, go for chicken thighs as they have higher fat content.
From here on if you want to stay healthy, start avoiding Sugary foods, beans, tubers, low fat food, alcohols and sugar free foods. On the other hand, add your meals with meat, fatty fish, eggs, cheese, healthy oils, avocados, low-carb vegetables and condiments.
Eat healthy, stay healthy.
